Pruning Shears, Plant Cuttings
Pruning our Lives for Growth

Every spring, we start the careful task of pruning our fruit trees. Each variety of fruit demands distinct cuts and shaping, all aimed at achieving 'growth'...

Eliminating dead branches provides additional space for Spring growth and creates gaps that enable more sunlight to reach the tree's center. It often seems that the more you prune, the more vigorous the pruning season is, the healthier the tree becomes, resulting in a profusion of flowers and fruit.

I experience that same mindset (despite how challenging it may be to maintain), when I am aware that God is actively pruning my life...

John 15: 1 - 2 - 'I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.'

Later in John, Jesus clarifies that a branch cannot bear fruit by itself; it must stay connected to the vine to produce fruit. Similarly, we cannot bear fruit unless we remain in Jesus...

The more we give to Jesus, the more he prunes. He starts eliminating distractions and the desires and wants of our flesh, replacing them with himself.

Everything resides in him; Jesus is life...the one who fills everything with himself, and without him, life remains unfruitful...

Remain in him, remain in his word...allow the pruning to reshape you, to form new growth, to bring forth new fruit...
